WORSHIP

Gathering together on the Lord’s Day for public worship is of foremost importance to us at Flat Branch. There are 168 hours in every week and only one single hour is appointed for us to meet together to honor Christ. Here are some reasons why we find that 60-75 minutes each Sunday morning to be so valuable:

  1. We literally owe it to the Lord. Psalm 29:2 says, “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.” Our great and awesome God is worthy to be praised every day of our lives individually, and particularly when we assemble together as a visible expression of the Body of Christ on earth.
  1. Our worship time is when we point each other to the Lord. Yes, we can glorify God in whatever we do individually but we recognize that something special happens when we meet corporately to praise our great God and Savior. It’s a unique opportunity to “speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Ephesians 5:19a).

At Flat Branch we are committed to meeting regularly to hear the Word of God read, the gospel of Christ crucified and risen preached, and to partake of the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper). These things help us grow in the Faith.

  1. Believing in the centrality of God’s Word in public worship, we become better equipped to share the Faith with others. Our times together in the Scriptures help prepare us to walk in manners worthy of our calling in Christ and motivate us to share the love of Christ with those in the community in which God has placed us. Sunday worship is, in effect, also a  time of discipleship where believers move toward maturity in Christ and are motivated to serve others as well.

So join us for worship, won’t you?! We would love to have you as our guest. You can check us out online first, if you like, but then we would love to meet you in person. Our people are friendly and our God is great! Come and seek Jesus with us.
